STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Energy’s latest wildcat well in the southern Barents Sea was a dry hole.

Seadrill’s semisubmersible West Bollsta drilled well 7221/4-1 on the Polmak prospect in the Triassic Kobbe formation in licences PL609 and PL1027.

Although there were indications of hydrocarbons in a 9-m (29.5-ft) interval in poor-quality reservoir, the result was classified as ‘dry.’

The West Bollsta will next drill the Bask prospect for Lundin in PL533B, targeting resources of 250 MMbbl in Palaeocene-aged sandstones.

The other partners in this well are Aker BP and Wintershall DEA.
