ABERDEEN, UKDeep Casing Tools (DCT) and regional partner EFTECH have run three more Turborunner tools for Shell Sarawak.

The program, commissioned in 2018, covered horizontal well completions in six new wells to ensure that TD could be reached. All work was performed from the Velesto Drilling jackup Naga 7 offshore, Miri, Sarawak.

Turborunner, according to DCT, employs high-speed reaming to reduce potential equipment damage, eliminate wiper trips and open hole exposure, and facilitate cost-effective drill through and drill ahead.

Some of the challenges for this campaign, included tight spots in all six wells, however, the runs were completed by August, allowing TD to be attained.

DCT was able to overcome COVID-19 travel restrictions through its relationship with EFTECH, a Malaysia-based provider of process and pipeline services to the offshore industry.

The two companies provided field support to oversee running of the tools, assisted by remote support and monitoring from DCT’s technical operations team in Aberdeen.
