OSLO, Norway – Equinor has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill two exploration wells in license 263 D in the Norwegian Sea.
The semisubmersible West Hercules will drill wells 6407/1-8 S and A after completing another wildcat well in the North Sea for Equinor (34/11-24 S in license 248 C).
This will be the first drilling activity on PL 263 D, which was awarded in March 2018. The location for the two wells is around 9 km (5.6 mi) east of the Wintershall Dea-operated Maria field.
Equinor also has approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to use the jackup Maersk Intrepid for production drilling, completion and intervention on the Martin Linge field development in North Sea license PL 043.
Martin Linge is close to the median line with the UK, in 115 m (377 ft) water depth. Development is based on an integrated fixed production platform with an FSO for oil storage.
