OSLO, Norway – Aker BP has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for a P&A campaign at the Valhall drilling platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
Production from the platform will be shut down over the next few years: one well is currently in service.
The jackup Maersk Invincible will plug and remove four other wells.
In the Norwegian Sea, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized OMV to drill appraisal well 6506/11-12 S on production license 644, using the semisubmersible Island Innovator.
The location is around 4 km (2.5 mi) west of the producing Morvin gas field, operated by Equinor.
