Deepsea Stavanger on track for multi-well campaign offshore South Africa
Offshore staff
VANCOUVER – Africa Energy Corp. expects the Odfjell semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger to depart the North Sea for South Africa later in the current quarter.
Currently the rig is in dry dock in Bergen, Norway, for maintenance and modifications in preparation for a drilling campaign on the Total-operated block 11B/12B.
It is due to spud the Luiperd exploration well in 3Q, the second well on the block following the play-opening Brulpadda gas/condensate discovery in February 2019.
According to Africa Energy, the Polarcus 3D dataset over the block has confirmed the large resource potential of the Paddavissie Fairway, and the expanded Shearwater 2D seismic survey too is now complete.
Fast-track onboard processing has identified potentially significant prospectivity with good seismic indicators across the new Kloofpadda lead to the east.
PGS’ 3D seismic survey also is now complete following expansion to cover a newly identified potential northern extension to the Luiperd prospect.
Luiperd will be the first of a multi-well exploration program on block 11B/12B targeting de-risked submarine fan prospects.
