SINGAPORE – PGNiG Upstream Norway has started drilling the Shrek prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

Rex International subsidiary Lime Petroleum, which signed an agreement in June to acquire 30% of surrounding license PL838 from DEA Norge, said the location of the 6507/5-9S well was 4.5 km (2.8 mi) southeast of the Aker BP-operated Skarv field center.

The partners may opt for a tieback to Skarv in the event of a commercial discovery.

The license is in the Donna Terrace area in a water depth of around 350 m (1,148 ft). Aker BP is the other partner.
