Baker Hughes has opened its new liquid mud plant, cement bulk and integrated multi-modal complex in Namibia.
According to the company, this is now the country’s largest liquid mud plant in terms of volume and capacity, providing 15,000 bbl of drilling and completions fluids and cement bulk handling to support offshore oil and gas operations.
The facilities are located at Walvis Bay Port, close to Namibia’s newly discovered offshore fields in the Orange Basin. Local staff employed there have undergone training in oil and gas operations. In addition, Baker Hughes has provided training to personnel from state-owned oil and gas company NAMCOR and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The company has offered drilling services, subsea wellheads and tubular running services in the country since 2021.
