Venterra acquires offshore wind support group

Offshore wind services provider Venterra Group has acquired the Oceanscan Holdings group of companies.

These offer subsea and non-destructive test equipment, geotechnical services and specialist personnel to the offshore energy sector.

Oceanscan is based in Aberdeen with subsidiaries in Houston and Singapore.

It has four UK subsidiaries:

• Oceanscan in Aberdeen hires and calibrates hydrographic survey and ROV sensors and non-destructive test equipment. Another branch in Lowestoft provides personnel to offshore wind contractors, specializing in geophysical and cable route surveys and pre-construction activities.
• Hydrographic Personnel Resources (UK) in Inverurie supplies specialists to support offshore wind construction and inspection campaigns.
• Geoforce Technical Services in Suffolk offers cone penetration testing services for measuring in-situ soil conditions for offshore wind farm developments.
• Sercal Non-Destructive Test Equipment near Birmingham provides repair, sales and calibration services to the power generation and rail industries.
