Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway-- Aker Kvaerner will operate, manage, and maintain the Al Zaafarana FPSO offshore Egypt for Gemsa Petroleum Co. and partners under a contract valued at NOK 200 million ($34.2 million) covering five years starting Sept. 1, 2007.
TheAl Zaafarana FPSO is offshore Egypt in the Red. Produced oil is stored in the FPSO and is transported onshore by shuttle tankers. The average crew size for the FPSO is 25 people. Under the new contract, personnel will be provided by Aker Kvaerner Operations and its partner Gravitas & Cie.
"The award of this contract gives Aker Kvaerner Operations a foothold in North Africa and in the growing market segment of FPSO production,' says managing director of Aker Kvaerner Operations, John McKeown.
