Aker Kvaerner to operate Al Zaafarana

Aker Kvaerner will operate, manage, and maintain the Al Zaafarana FPSO offshore Egypt for Gemsa Petroleum Co. and partners under a contract valued at NOK 200 million ($34.2 million) covering five years starting Sept. 1, 2007.

OSLO, Norway-- Aker Kvaerner will operate, manage, and maintain the Al Zaafarana FPSO offshore Egypt for Gemsa Petroleum Co. and partners under a contract valued at NOK 200 million ($34.2 million) covering five years starting Sept. 1, 2007.

TheAl Zaafarana FPSO is offshore Egypt in the Red. Produced oil is stored in the FPSO and is transported onshore by shuttle tankers. The average crew size for the FPSO is 25 people. Under the new contract, personnel will be provided by Aker Kvaerner Operations and its partner Gravitas & Cie.
