EDINBURGH, UK – Exova Qatar has invested in a new Crack Tip Opening Displacement (CTOD) testing capability for oil and gas clients in Qatar.

The new service extends the capability of the laboratory to provide a quantitative measure of fracture toughness.

It provides equipment to generate fatigue cracks in samples of material from structures such as pipelines. These samples are then loaded to determine the material’s resistance to the presence of pre-existing defects that may result from the fabrication process or which might develop during service or transportation.
