Hercules contracts Wild Well to control leak in GoM

Hercules Offshore (NASDAQ:HERO) has hired Wild Well Control to halt a gas leak on the jackup Hercules 265 on south Timablier 220 in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON –Hercules Offshore (NASDAQ:HERO) has hired Wild Well Control to halt a gas leak on the jackup Hercules 265on south Timablier 220 in the Gulf of Mexico.

The 250-ft mat-supported cantilevered rig caught fire, according to the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, but not until all 44 personnel were evacuated without injury yesterday afternoon.

The rig is operating for Walter Oil & Gas. It is an unmanned offshore gas platform that is not on production. The drilling was a side track

No cause for the leak or fire has been determined, and the method of regaining control has not been decided.
