Seadrill, SapuraKencana JV wins $2.7 billion contract with Petrobras

Seadrill and Malaysia’s SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad have been awarded a contract worth $2.7 billion with Petrobras for three pipe laying support vessels.

HAMILTON, Bermuda – Seadrill and Malaysia’s SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad have been awarded a contract worth $2.7 billion with Petrobras for three pipe laying support vessels.

The three newbuild vessels will be operated by the Seadrill and SapuraKencana joint ventureSapura Navegação Marítima. The contract covers a period of eight years with an option to extend for another eight years, Seadrill said.

The companies expect work to begin offshore Brazil in 2Q 2016. The vessels will be built in the Netherlands at a cost of about $800 million.
