Serica closer to completing North Sea Tailwind transaction

Serica Energy expects to obtain all necessary approvals for its acquisition of fellow UK North Sea independent Tailwind Energy by the end of next month.

Serica is owner and operator of the Bruce (98%), Keith (100%) and Rhum (50%) assets consisting of more than 25 wells, three bridge-linked platforms and extensive subsea pipelines and infrastructure that tie-in Rhum, Keith and the western area of Bruce to the Bruce facilities.

LONDON — Serica Energy expects to obtain all necessary approvals for its acquisition of fellow UK North Sea independent Tailwind Energy by the end of next month.

The company has included details of Tailwind’s current program on the Gannet Field in the central UK North Sea in its latest operational overview. The DSV Deep Discoverer has arrived in the Triton area and started the tie-in operation for the Gannet GE-04 well, which was completed in January.

Well results were above expectations, and flow rates should exceed 8,000 bbl/d when the well is fully onstream in March.

At Serica’s Bruce platform complex in the northern UK sector, more wells are planned this spring and a second Bruce light well intervention vessel campaign will start during the third quarter, aimed at boosting production through reentry and workover of existing producer wells.

Also, Phase 1 of the Bruce compressor upgrades will get underway this year, followed by commissioning in 2024. The purpose is to reduce carbon emissions by 10% of the Bruce total.

Design and selection studies have started for compressor electrification projects, Serica added.
