Drydocks World joins Montenegro shipyard consortium

Drydocks World has joined the Group Adriatic Marinas consortium which plans to redevelop the former Bijela Shipyard in Boka Bay, Montenegro, to provide marine and offshore services, including refits, to the shipping, oil, gas and energy sectors.

SHARJAH, UAE – Drydocks World has joined the Group Adriatic Marinas (ADM) consortium which plans to redevelop the former Bijela Shipyard in Boka Bay, Montenegro, to provide marine and offshore services, including refits, to the shipping, oil, gas and energy sectors.

ADM is presently owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai and Dutch shipbuilder Damen, although Drydocks World will take on Damen’s role in the redevelopment.

Following completion by the Montenegrin government of remediation works, the transformation of the yard should be completed within 36 months.

In addition, the consortium plans to establish a skills academy at Bijela to develop future generations of Montenegrin marine engineers.
