NPD sanctions Aker BP wildcat in the North Sea

Aker BP will drill a new prospect in the Alvheim area of the North Sea following approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

OSLO, Norway – Aker BP will drill a new prospect in the Alvheim area of the North Sea following approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

The semisubmersibleScarabeo 8will spud well 24/9-13 in license PL 869 after it has finished a drilling program in the southern Norwegian Sea.

Location of the new well will be around 4 km (2.5 mi) southwest of the Bøyla field in the central Norwegian North Sea.

This will be the first well on the license, awarded in February 2017.
