MASSY, France – Fasttrack 3D seismic data is available from CGG’s recent Mozambique multi-client survey in the outer Zambezi Delta basin.
Interested parties can view the data set in CGG data rooms as part of their preparations for the country’s 2019 licensing round.
The survey covered a 15,400-sq km (5,946-sq mi) area over blocks Z5-C and Z5-D and surrounding open acreage and was acquired as part of a multi-client program agreed between CGG and Mozambique’s Instituto Nacional de Petroleo in 2017.
Final PSDM deliverables will be issued in 4Q 2019 with a JumpStart integrated geoscience package, a geological regional study (2017 East Africa Robertson Study), and the Robertson New Ventures Suite of exploration screening tools.
Luc Schlumberger, CGG’s executive vice president, Multi-Client & New Ventures, said: “Our comprehensive suite of geoscience products for Mozambique will bring the industry new insight into the hydrocarbon prospectivity of this exciting new exploration area.
“The fasttrack data has already revealed key details of how the prospective reservoirs of the thick Zambezi basin sediments are affected by the nearby Beira High.”
CGG has also unveiled its ‘2021 Strategic Roadmap.’ The company plans to transition to an ‘asset-light’ model by reducing its exposure to the data acquisition business, which it says has suffered in recent years from industry overcapacity, lack of differentiation, commodity pricing, and a heavy fixed cost base.
It will therefore undertake the following changes:
Marine:
- Adjust to a three-vessel fleet in 2019.
- Find a strategic partnership for more cost-efficient operation and control of the vessels.
Land: Exit the market after a wind-down period.
Multi-Physics: Market for sale and monetize when suitable.
Its future areas of focus will include leveraging increased reservoir development activity, equipment diversification, and advancing geoscience and digital technologies.
