OSLO, Norway – Equinor has received the go-ahead for two exploration wells in the Norwegian North Sea.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Spitsbergen will drill well 36/1-3 on the Presto prospect in production license 885 following clearance from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).
Drilling should start in December 2018 and could last up to 52 days in the event of a discovery. Water depth at the site is 230 m (754 ft).
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Equinor to drill 34/8-18 S from the Visund A platform in PL120 on the Visund field.
Total has the PSA’s permission to extend the lives of facilities producing the Skirne and Byggve fields in the central Norwegian North Sea.
These have been developed via two subsea templates in 120 m (394 ft) water depth connected to the Heimdal complex 20 km (12.4 mi) to the west.
Production started in 2004.
