Norwegian authorities sanction five Equinor wells

Equinor has approvals for five wells on various fields in the Norwegian sector.

OSLO, Norway – Equinor has approvals for five wells on various fields in the Norwegian sector.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized use of the semisubmersibleSonga Encourage to drill appraisal wells 6608/10-18, 6608/10-18 A, and 6608/10-18 B on the Cape Vulture discovery, 8 km (5 mi) north of the Norne field in license 128 D.

Equinor also has the go-ahead from the Petroleum Safety Authority to drill exploration well 35/10-4 S on the StĂĄlull prospect, west of the Fram field in the North Sea, in 363 m (1,191 ft) water depth.

The semisubDeepsea Bergen may already have started the program, which could last up to 84 days.

In addition, the PSA has approved use of the semisubSonga Equinox to drill and complete well 31/2-O-25 AYH XT on the Troll field in the North Sea.

Operations should start on July 8 and continue for up to 44 days.
