Equinor gains consent for extra well at Troll in the North Sea

Equinor Energy has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to expand a well engineering program at the Troll field in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Equinor Energy has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to expand a well engineering program at the Troll field in the North Sea, using the semisubmersible Songa Endurance.
The original approval related to drilling, completion, well overhaul, well intervention and plug-back, but now also covers use of the Controlled Mud Level method, previously known asdual gradient drilling.
The extension applies to one well, with drilling due to start this month.
