OSLO, Norway – Aker BP has permission to drill two appraisal wells 8 km (5 mi) southeast of the Alvheim field in license PL203 in the Norwegian North Sea.
After completing a current wildcat for the company in the Barents Sea, the semisubmersibleDeepsea Stavanger will drill wells 25/4-12 S and well 25/4-12 A.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, which authorized the drilling, these will be the eighth and ninth exploration wells on the permit since it was awarded in 1996.
