Fourth Transocean ultra-deepwater drillship on duty for Shell in the Gulf of Mexico

STEINHAUSEN, Switzerland – Transocean Ltd. has issued an update on its fleet of offshore drilling rigs.
On Jan. 30, 2018, the company closed theacquisition of Songa Offshore SE. The transaction added seven semisubmersibles to its fleet, including four high-specification, harsh environment CAT-D rigs under long-term contracts with Statoil. As of Feb. 19, 2018, the combined company’s contract backlog is $12.8 billion.
On Feb. 12, 2018, the newbuild ultra-deepwater drillshipDeepwater Poseidon commenced operations on its 10-year contract with Shell in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Also in the US Gulf of Mexico, Murphy Oil Corp. has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillshipDeepwater Asgard a three-well contract plus a one-well option. Plus, BHP Billiton has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Invictusa two-well contract extension.
Offshore the Ivory Coast, CNR has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Discoverer India a five-well contract, which is expected to begin in April.
Offshore Myanmar, Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2a three-well contract plus five one-well options. The contract is expected to begin in April.
Off India, Reliance has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1a six-well contract plus options. The contract is expected to begin in July.
Offshore Brunei, Shell has awarded the ultra-deepwater semisubmersible Deepwater Nautilus a one-well contract plus three one-well options.
In the Norwegian North Sea, Statoil has awarded the harsh environment semisub Transocean Spitsbergen a 22-well contract plus one three-well option and two one-well options. The contract is expected to begin in July 2019.
Wellesley Petroleum and DEA Norge AS have both contracted the harsh environment semisub Transocean Arctic. Wellesley’s contract is estimated to last from May to September 2018, and DEA Norge’s is estimated to last from July 2019 to May 2020.
In the UK North Sea, Repsol Sinopec has awarded the harsh environment semisub Paul B. Loyd, Jr. a one-well contract.
In addition, EnQuest has awarded the harsh environment semi Transocean Leader a 90-day contract plus a one-well option, which is expected to begin in July.
The drilling contractor has stacked the ultra-deepwater drillship Discoverer Luanda.
