COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Maersk Drilling has won contract extensions of around 105 days for two jackups in the Dutch North Sea.
Wintershall Noordzee has contracted the jackupMaersk Resolve to drill the third well of a current drilling campaign, which is now extended to 210-280 days. The scope includes potential testing and completion activities.
At present the rig is working on the first well of the program for Wintershall in the UK sector and will then transfer to the Dutch sector to spud the second well.
Petrogas E&P Netherlands has extended its contract for theMaersk Resolute to cover two workovers at the Haven platform, lengthening the overall duration of the contract to around 155 days.
Both rigs had previously been warm-stacked in Esbjerg, Denmark, before being re-activated to start their current operations.
Elsewhere, Total E&P Malaysia has contracted the semisubmersibleMaersk Deliverer to drill an ultra-deepwater exploration well in the block DW-N Sabah offshore Malaysia.
The rig will start the 60-day program after finishing a 30-day assignment for JX Nippon, 160 km (99.4 mi) northwest of Kota Kinabalu at a water depth of 1,200 m (3,937 ft).
Total’s well will be in a water depth of 2,835 m (9,301 ft) and will require managed pressure drilling (MPD) and pressurized mud cap drilling capabilities.
The Maersk Deliverer had been warm-stacked in Namibia. It has been upgraded with a MPD system in response to enquiries from customers in the Malaysia region.
“We see an increase in demand for deepwater rigs in the Southeast Asian market,” said Lars Ostergaard, chief commercial officer of Maersk Drilling.
