Houston –Trendsetter Engineering Inc. has won a contract to provide components of a worldwide response subsea containment system for Oil Spill Response Ltd., which is collaborating with the Subsea Well Response Project (SWRP) to make a new integrated intervention system globally available.
Management, engineering, and procurement will be at Trendsetter’s facilities in Houston. The equipment will be owned by OSRL and is available tooperators worldwide on a subscription basis.
The system provided by TEI will include FLETs, flowspool assemblies, flowline connectors, flexible jumper connectors, jumper choke connectors, connector mounted over pressure protection devices, as well as custom containers and skids to enable air freight the equipment.
The project will use a flowback and capture solution to direct well hydrocarbons to surface for safe disposal. The flowspool assembly, a custom manifold with hydraulic valves, lands on a dummy wellhead to transition flow from the incident well to a vertical riser. At surface, the flowspool connects to the collection vessel via an internal landing string equipped with a traditional subsea test tree system.
This system reportedly simplifies and expedites mobilization and installation so the system can make a rapid response during an emergency, and to minimize storage and maintenance costs.
