Seatrium Group has contracted KBR to help develop topsides facilities for two new energy-efficient FPSOs that Petrobras has commissioned for its Atapu and Sepia fields in the Santos basin offshore Brazil.
KBR will perform detailed engineering services and provide technical engineering procurement support for the topsides of the P-84 and P-85 FPSOs.
These new-generation Petrobras platforms will each produce up to 225,000 bbl/d of oil, with capabilities to compress, treat and re-inject 10 Mcm/d of gas.
To follow Petrobras' all-electric concept, the design focus will be on efficient power generation and optimized process plants for energy efficiency purposes.
Other technologies to minimize environmental impact will include zero routine flaring and venting, variable speed drives and CO2 capture measures.
