CHANGXING, China — ZPMC, the Chinese state-owned port, has staged a ceremony to mark completion of the JSD6000, an offshore construction and pipelay vessel.

Saipem has signed a five-year bareboat charter contract for the JSD6000 with ZPMC, with two one-year extension options. It expects to take delivery shortly.

Features include a DP3 dynamic positioning system and a heavy-lift capacity of up to 5,200 metric tons.

The Ulstein SOC5000 design vessel is capable of laying pipelines up to 36-inch diameter in J-Lay mode, and up to 60-inch in S-Lay mode, in water depths of up to 3,000 m.
