BREDA, the Netherlands -- Dockwise has a memorandum of agreement with the China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. (COOEC) to manage a newbuild, 50,000-metric ton (55,115-ton) dwt heavy-lift vessel.
The ship, similar in size to Dockwise’s Black Marlin, is due to be delivered in February 2012.
Wang Mingyang, COOEC vice president, said: "The newly built 50,000 mt heavy-lift vessel is undoubtedly the most advanced in terms of its DP-2 system and structure capacity. Cooperation with the best player in offshore heavy lifting industry could definitely provide COOEC with international opportunities and impressive exposure to clients all over the world.”
Dockwise operates a fleet of 20 semisubmersible vessels for heavy marine transport, installation, and logistical management. EPCI contractor COOEC’s own 22-strong fleet includes a 7,500-metric ton (8,267-ton) self-propelled crane vessel, a 3,800-mt (4,189-t) derrick/lay barge, and a 4,000-mt (4,409-t) deepwater crane and pipe lay vessel.
