STX Norway Offshore has won an order from Olympic Shipping to build an LNG-powered platform supply vessel, scheduled for delivery in early 2012.

Ålesund, Norway -- STX Norway Offshore has won an order from Olympic Shipping to build an LNG-powered platform supply vessel, scheduled for delivery in early 2012.
The new vessel has been designed by STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund. Its hull will be built in Tulcea, Romania, followed by outfitting at Aukra.
STX adds that the vessel will be built according to the latest SPS regulations, providing a high level of stability under all weather conditions and improving crew safety.
According to the company, LNG is an environmental friendly combustion fuel, with much lower NOx and CO2 emissions than any fuel oil-powered engine. STX Norway Offshore has to date delivered six LNG-powered vessels, with five more under construction.
The latest vessel will have an overall length of 95 m (311 ft), a molded breadth of 20 m (65 ft), and a deadweight of 5,000 tons.
