LIMASSOL, Cyprus – Songa Offshore has issued an update on modifications to its drilling fleet.
On December 19, repairs were completed to the Songa Venus, which included testing of re-worked BOP components. The rig has since restarted operations off Malaysia for Petronas Carigali.
At end-October Songa Mercur completed its demobilization and load-off from Sakhalin, eastern Russia to Labuan Malaysia. During November and December, the rig underwent extensive contractual acceptance testing and installation of third party equipment.
It is now fully accepted and scheduled to depart for a two well-program in Malaysia, again for Petronas.
Songa Delta’s upgrade stay at the CCB base outside Bergen, Norway was extended from the originally planned 40 days to 56 days. This was mainly due to broadened work scopes and further work related to the BOP system.
Weather delays then kept the rig in sheltered waters until January 6. Currently it is anchoring up at location in order to re-start its contract with Wintershall / Det Norske Oljeselskap.
Songa Eclipse has mobilized to Angola and is undergoing final contractual acceptance testing, which should be completed during the second half of this month. It should then start its one well-plus 18-month contract with Total E&P Angola.
