Golden Energy Offshore orders platform supply vessels

Golden Energy Offshore has entered a shipbuilding contract with Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment in China.

AALESUND, Norway – Golden Energy Offshore has entered a shipbuilding contract with Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment in China.

The shipyard will construct two platform supply vessels (PSVs) ofUlstein’s PX121H design, with an option to build two more. The two confirmed vessels are expected to be delivered in 1Q and 2Q 2016.

Both DP-2vessels will have an extra deck fitted. They will be 83.4 m (273 ft) long with a beam of 18 m (59 ft) and deadweight of 4,000 metric tons (4,409 tons).

These are mid-size PSVs designed for duties including oil recovery and fire-fighting. They will have a cargo deck of around 850 sq m (9,149 sq ft) and under-decks, and will accommodate up to 30 personnel.

Other features include an anchorhandling crane with up to 67-metric ton capacity and an ROV mezzanine deck, allowing the vessels to be adapted for inspection, maintenance, repair, ROV support, trenching, and light subsea construction work.
