GALATI, Romania –Damen Shipyards Group has launched its latest subsea support vessel, Maersk Connector.
The vessel, owned and operated by Maersk Supply Service, will work initially forDeepOcean under a seven-year charter agreement.
Its 7,000-metric ton (7,716-ton) carousel is suited to installation and burial projects from land-fall to deep water and also for operations in remote geographical locations. It is also designed to comply with North Sea oil and gas standards, the company adds.
The 138-m (453-ft) long, 9,300-dwt vessel has 2,200 sq m (23,680 ft) of unobstructed deck with a loading capacity of 20t/sq m, and will have a top speed of 12 knots.
It is currently berthed at Damen Shipyards Galati preparing for installation of its helideck, cranes and bridge, and fitting-out of its interior. Sea trials should start by the end of this year.
