MOLDE, NorwayMODEC has awarded Axess Group a long-term inspection contract for the Léopold Sédar Senghor FPSO.

The vessel is due to start operating later this year for Woodside Energy at the deepwater Sangomar Field about 100 km south of Dakar, Senegal.

This contract follows completion of various baseline surveys at yards in China and Singapore during the construction phase. Axess’ work scope will include annual certification scopes for lifting gear, DROPS surveys, remedial measures and support for rigging operations.

The company is putting in place a training program for local engineers and technicians in Senegal to support projects both with MODEC and other clients.

In November 2023, MODEC entered a memorandum of understanding with Terra Drone Corp. to develop inspection drones for FPSOs. The company plans to combine its experience with Terra Drone's Terra UT Drone, which was developed to provide precise and efficient inspections with ultrasonic testing capabilities for non-destructive testing.
