NCT cable-lay vessel equipped with low lube MAN gensets

VARD has ordered four MAN 12V175D-MEM generating sets with selective catalytic reduction systems for a new diesel-electric DP2 cable-laying vessel for NCT Offshore in Denmark.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark  VARD has ordered four MAN 12V175D-MEM generating sets with selective catalytic reduction systems for a new diesel-electric DP2 cable-laying vessel for NCT Offshore in Denmark.

The vessel will feature a hybrid battery package, and the engines will have a low lube-oil consumption, said supplier MAN Energy Solutions.

Other features onboard the vessel will include an intelligent power system solution, encompassing batteries, switchboards and shore connection, to reduce fuel consumption and improve operability.

The vessel’s bollard pull will be more than 60 tons, with a maximum transit speed above 14 knots.
