NEW YORK – Exxon Mobil and its partners have discovered more oil in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.
According to Hess, the Lancetfish-1 well drilled by the Noble Don Taylor drillship in 5,843 ft of water, encountered about 92 ft of oil-bearing sandstone reservoir. The location is 4 miles southeast of the Fangtooth discovery.
Another exploration well, Kokwari-1 exploration, did not deliver commercial hydrocarbons.
Elsewhere on the block, the 220,000-bbl/d Prosperity FPSO arrived on April 11 at the Payara development location and hookup/commissioning activities are underway.
A fourth development, Yellowtail, was sanctioned earlier this month and will employ the 250,000-bbl/d One Guyana FPSO, with startup anticipated in 2025.
In addition, the partners expect to shortly receive Guyanese government and regulatory approvals for a fifth development, Uaru (250,000 bbl/d).
ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd. is the operator and holds 45% interest in the Stabroek block. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds 30% interest and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Ltd. holds 25% interest.
