HONG KONG/SEOUL, South Korea—BASF and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) will perform a joint feasibility study on capturing CO2 onboard maritime vessels using BASF’s OASE blue technology for flue gas applications.
The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for onboard carbon capture and storage technology at Gastech 2022 in Milan.
The scope of the collaboration includes a marinization study and engineering design and construction of the carbon capture unit. BASF will draw on its experience in FLNG and OASE, while SHI will assess the feasibility of installing the gas treatment technology onboard maritime vessels.
