MUSCAT, Oman  Masirah Oil is scouting for a jackup to drill exploration development wells this fall on and around the Yumna oil field in Block 50 offshore Oman.

In its latest update, the company also detailed recent upgrades to the Yumna production facilities.

The floating storage tanker was replaced with a new vessel, certified to operate at the field for several years without dry-docking for renewal of its classification and certificate.

Yumna’s mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) was also changed out; the new MOPU and storage tanker will be able to accommodate increased production from future new wells on the field.

After rectifying an operational issue with an electric submersible pump (ESP), production from Yumna’s three existing wells rose to 4,800 bbl/d. The company plans a further review of the ESP performance and may consider a replacement to coincide with the October/November drilling campaign.

Since June 11, however, production has been shut in following a minor oil leak in the flowline, which is undergoing retrieval and replacement. Production should resume in about two weeks based on current estimated delivery of equipment/materials.
