First Q-Flex LNG transfer to offshore Bangladesh FSRU

Qatargas has delivered the first cargo of liquefied natural gas via a Q-Flex vessel to the Summit LNG FSRU, stationed offshore Bangladesh.

DOHA, QatarQatargas has delivered the first cargo of liquefied natural gas via a Q-Flex vessel to the Summit LNG FSRU, stationed offshore Bangladesh.

The cargo was loaded onto the Qatargas-chartered Al Safliya at Ras Laffan Port on Dec. 17 and delivered to the FSRU on Jan. 14. It was the first commercial open water ship-to-ship transfer involving a Q-Flex vessel delivering to Petrobangla (LNG buyers) at its Summit LNG Terminal.

The latter was developed by Excelerate Energy and the Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corp. (Petrobangla). Summit LNG operates under a 15-year charter deal with Petrobangla.

The Al Safliya has a cargo capacity of 210,000 cu m (7.42 MMcf).
