HØVIK, Norway – Saipem says it will use ShipManager Hull, DNV GL’s hull integrity and ship maintenance software on five of its construction vessels.

Starting with the crane and pipelay vessel Saipem 7000, the company will be able to use a digital twin of the entire structure for optimal planning of periodic inspections and dry dock repairs.

Giampaolo Bonalumi, Asset Digital Transformation Leader at Saipem, said: “With this powerful tool we will be fully in control of the condition of the hull of our construction vessels.”

The software will also be used for the crane vessel FDS2, and the pipelay vessels FDS, Constellation, and Castorone.

According to DNV GL, the software allows vessel owners to use 3D digital twins for full lifecycle management of the hull structure. All data is centralized and easily accessible for steel and coating calculations and predictive analytics, enabling cost savings, especially in dry dock.
