Endeavor Management has reported the untimely passing of company president Bruce Lee Crager, on Dec. 19, 2024, at the age of 72.
Crager was a long-time offshore industry veteran, and his career spanned more than 48 years in offshore drilling and production, where he held several management positions and made significant contributions to the offshore energy sector.
Crager started his career with 1988 as senior vice president of Oceaneering International, a position he held until August 2001. He moved from there to be the president of ABB Offshore Systems Inc., a position he held until March 2004. Then, for two years, Crager served as an independent consultant to the offshore oil and gas industry, servicing clients such as GE and Petrobras on a range of subsea and field development solutions.
From there, Crager joined oil and gas engineering firm INTEC Engineering as president in February 2006, where he managed six offices around the world with revenues of more than $90 million.
In January 2008, he joined J. Ray McDermott as vice president-subsea, where he organized a worldwide focus on the subsea market including the acquisition of a number of new large subsea construction vessels and identification of prospective project opportunities. Crager served in that position for just over two years.
In February 2010, he joined Endeavor Management as executive vice president, where he focused on providing consulting support on a range of subsea products and floating production system technologies. Crager held that position for nearly 13 years.
In August 2022, he became president of Endeavor Management, a position he held until his untimely passing.
Crager was deemed by many in the industry to be a “visionary leader,” and he co-authored four patents and shared his expertise through numerous technical and management articles, including many articles in Offshore magazine dating back to the 1990s.
Crager also played a role in the creation of our Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition, and he was a founding member of the event’s advisory board starting in 1992. Before his passing, he was also the last original member still serving on the advisory board.
