DUBAI, UAE — Havtil (the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority) has rejected Shelf Drilling (North Sea)’s application for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the jackup Shelf Drilling Barsk.

The rig cannot start a contract offshore Norway, announced in April 2023, without this authorization. Shelf Drilling said it planned to continue dialogue with Havtil to obtain the AoC.

Offshore West Africa, the company has secured a 15-month assignment for the jackup Shelf Drilling Tenacious, which will begin in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract.

The additional contract value is about $66 million.
