Hanwha Ocean’s first newbuild deepwater drillship has undergone a naming ceremony in South Korea.
The Tidal Action ultradeepwater drillship, a proprietary Hanwha design, is capable of drilling to depths of up to 12,000 m in waters up to 3,600 m deep. The dynamically positioned vessel can support 20,000-psi BOPs.
In February 2024 the company established Hanwha Drilling to operate its drillship fleet. Seven months later, Constellation Oil Services secured a long-term charter contract with Petrobras for use of the Tidal Action offshore Brazil.
Drilling operations are due to start later this year.
