TOKYO– The TJS consortium has commissioned SOFEC Inc., a MODEC Group company, to supply the internal turret mooring system for the Coral South FLNG facility offshore Mozambique.
TheTJS consortium, which consists of TechnipFMC, JGC Corp., and Samsung Heavy Industries, awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract.
Project delivery includes both the turret mooring system (mooring legs, mechanical connectors, and anchor piles) and fluid transfer system (piping, swivels, safety and controls). The company will also assist in turret integration and offshore commissioning activities in Mozambique.
TheCoral South FLNG turret represents SOFEC’s fourth single point mooring system for LNG-related business. It will also feature the company’s high integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPS) technology.
SOFEC’s design is said to enable a reduced pressure envelope through the swivel stack by locating the HIPPS on the geostationary part of the turret. This results in increased operational safety on the vessel.
The FLNG vessel will be designed to produce 3.4 MM tons/yr of LNG and will be moored in 2,000 m (6,562 ft) of water in Area 4 in the Rovuma basin.
