KONGSBERG, Norway – Kongsberg Maritime has completed an upgrade of the safety and automation systems on the FPSO Alvheim in the Norwegian North Sea for Aker BP.
The vessel was converted from a tanker in 2008, but the hull system was not part of the process.
But with the hull system reaching the end of its working life, with outdated software, Aker BP authorized the upgrade.
A Kongsberg Maritime team organized the replacement of 19 SAS controllers under an EPCI project, the scope extending to testing, offshore installation and commissioning of the hull SAS cabinets.
The team completed the program in October 2021 with a live field test of the final controller offshore.
