Nexans takes delivery of cable-lay vessel

Ulstein Verft has delivered the DP-3 cable-lay vessel Nexans Aurora to Nexans.

ULSTEINVIK, NorwayUlstein Verft has delivered the DP-3 cable-lay vessel Nexans Aurora to Nexans.

According to Ulstein, it was delivered on time.

The 149.9-m (491.8-ft) long and 31-m (102-ft) wide vessel is designed for transport and installation of subsea high voltage cable systems and a variety of construction tasks. The Nexans Aurora features purpose-designed equipment for cable and umbilical transport and laying, including bundle laying, protection, and jointing.

The Skipsteknisk-designed Nexans Aurora will work in the offshore renewables market, installing subsea cables including those connecting offshore wind farms to the grid and interconnector systems.

The vessel will be named in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik on June 8, before leaving for her home port of Halden and Nexans’ subsea high voltage cables competence center.
