PARIS – Bureau Veritas has awarded GTT approval in principle (AiP) for a digital solution for sloshing activity assessment in class survey to optimize maintenance of GTT’s LNG membrane tanks.

The solution is based on the company’s ‘Sloshing Virtual Sensor’ technology, and makes use of the tank digital twin (also designed by GTT), and the real-time operational data of various LNG ships, including FSRUs and FLNGs, to monitor critical parameters concerning tank integrity.

According to the company, the digital solution, combined with an appropriate risk analysis, can support alternative survey plans designed to optimize tank maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

This should give ship owners increased operational flexibility and cost savings, the company claimed.
