SHARJAH, UAELamprell has started early construction works on the first two new build jackup rigs ordered by International Maritime Industries (IMI) last year.

Most of the assembly will be performed at the company’s UAE yards, with Lamprell also training IMI personnel, with the two companies due to commission the rigs in 2022 at their Saudi facility.

Although Lamprell did not secure any work in its first full year on Saudi Aramco’s LTA (long-term agreement) program in 2019 (all awards went to established LTA contractors), the volume of bidding continues to be high, with multiple bids in preparation at any given time.

The company has started fabrication for Moray East offshore northeast Scotland, its second wind farm project following EA1.
