ROERMOND, the Netherlands—Sif Holding will start construction in April of a new €328-million ($350 million) complex in Rotterdam for manufacturing monopile foundations.
The upgrades site will raise Sif’s overall capacity for these structures to 500 kilotons per year, allowing it to manufacture potentially 200 XXXL, 11-m dia., 2,500-t reference monopile foundations annually.
Once the facility is fully ramped up, during the first half of 2025, the investment could deliver payback within three to four years.
The Ecowende joint venture between Shell and Eneco has committed to 348 kilotons of production, bringing Sif’s present order book to 662 kilotons.
A long-term capacity reservation framework agreement is in place with Equinor, with a second under negotiation.
