PEMBROKE DOCK, Wales – Blue Gem Wind, the joint venture between TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Group, has submitted consent applications for its 100-MW Erebus floating offshore wind project in the Celtic Sea.
The company has applied to Welsh Ministers under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 for consent to build and operate Erebus, alongside a separate application to Natural Resources Wales for a marine license under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009.
According to Blue Gem Wind, these are the first-ever consent applications for floating offshore wind in Welsh waters.
The demonstration project, named after the famous ship built in Pembroke Dock in 1826, is expected to be located about 45 km (28 mi) off the coast of Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales.
