Siemens Gamesa gains long-term extension to East Anglia ONE support role

MUNICH, GermanyScottishPower Renewables and Bilbao Offshore Holding have awarded Siemens Gamesa a contract extension to service the 714-MW East Anglia ONE offshore wind power plant in the UK southern North Sea.

The extension is for a period of up to 15 years, and was awarded 12 months after the commissioning of the last of the 102 SWT-7.0-154 turbines. Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Hull, to the north, manufactured all the 75-m (246-ft) long wind turbine blades.

Servicing and maintenance will continue to be conducted from the base at Lowestoft on the Suffolk coast.

The scope includes provision of offshore logistics and jackup vessels, with access to East Anglia ONE via crew transfer vessel and helicopter.
