FREDERICIA, Denmark – PGE and Ørsted have closed an agreement that gives each company 50% of the shares in the Polish offshore wind projects Baltica 2 and Baltica 3.
Together these comprise the Baltic Offshore Wind Farm, the largest offshore wind project in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea. The companies will jointly build and operate the facilities which will have a total installed capacity of up to 2.5 GW.
In mid-March, the President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection approved the joint venture.
Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 have already received environmental permits and secured grid connection agreements. Subject to final investment decisions, Baltica 3 (1 GW) could become operational in 2026, and Baltica 2 (1.5 GW) before 2030.
