INEOS adds compressor to step up gas from North Sea Breagh field

INEOS Energy aims to increase gas flow from the Breagh field in the UK southern North Sea, after starting up an electrically driven compressor at the Teesside gas processing plant in northeast England.
INEOS Energy announced Oct. 10 the startup of the electric-driven compressor at the Teesside Gas Processing Plant, which it says will significantly boost gas flows from the INEOS-operated Breagh gas field.

North Sea Midstream Partners confirmed Oct. 10 the successful startup of a new onshore electric-drive compressor at its Teesside Gas Processing Plant.
According to the company, electrically driven compressors have a lower carbon footprint than the gas-driven version. Breagh, it added, is one of the UK’s lowest carbon-intensity offshore gas fields in the UK.
The development comprises 12-slot minimum facilities, normally unattended wellhead platform with 11 production wells and a 100-km wet gas export pipeline to the shore. From there, an 11-km onshore pipeline takes the gas to the Teesside plant, owned by North Sea Midstream Partners.
At Teesside, the gas undergoes processing for delivery into the UK’s national transmission system.
